What is a Remodeling Coach?

A “remodeling coach” partners with homeowners and helps navigate the remodeling process.

The homeowner chooses how much (or how little) guidance they will receive during the project.  Some homeowners simply need advice to get the project going and then they take it from there.  Some clients choose to maintain the relationship throughout the entire project.

Either way, the homeowner has confidence in their team before embarking on a critical project.  And by team, I mean the contractors, designers and suppliers that make or break your project.  That, friends, is invaluable peace of mind.

Since I likely do not live near your home, my services rely heavily on technology.  Digital photos, email, texting and telephone calls allow communication with my clients throughout their project.  I recommend my clients have a strong grasp of these technological tools.

Specifically, that means clients should:

• Be able to take and email digital photos
• Be comfortable with email, including sending attachments such as photos and PDFs
• Have access to a scanner or fax to send me paperwork for my review
• Be able to use a cell phone to send and receive calls, voice mail and text messages

I Might Be a Good Fit for Your Project Team If:

• You need someone to take you through the entire remodel process, from A to Z, and assist the whole way.
• You have a good grasp of home improvement concepts but not quite expert-level experience.
• You don’t want to pay a ton of money for a general contractor since you can perform or subcontract most of the work yourself.
• You just need an adviser to fall back on should you encounter a challenging issue.

Sample Projects We May Work On Together:

• Your house was built 20+ years ago and you need a plan to “bring it up to date.”
• Your kitchen is in desperate need of renovation and you sure could use help finding an economical and appealing solution.
• You just purchased a rental unit and need advice for getting it rent-able quickly and for a reasonable price.
• Your master bedroom has lost the spark and you want to add some flavor to the drab finishes.
• Your mother-in-law is moving in and you need a new room added on, and fast.

I Might Not Be A Good Fit for Your Project Team If:

• You need someone on-site to help you through your project.
• You prefer face-to-face interaction and e-mail/phone calls just won’t cut it.
